Africa is one of the richest continents in the world, but it also has some of the poorest nations because of political unrest, violence, and ineffective infrastructure, among other issues. Despite this, the continent is still rich in resources that can be used to advance regional development and social progress. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in particular, where we collaborate with locals to develop pertinent programs that support self-resilience, peace, and sustainability in the area, our programs have achieved a significant milestone.
Our Programs in the Region Include
Lack of access to modern farming techniques and resources, limited knowledge and training on sustainable agricultural practices, poor infrastructure and inadequate market access, and climate change and its impact on agriculture emphasize the need for addressing these challenges to achieve sustainable development, thus motivating us to promote sustainable agriculture practices, enhance food security, and empower smallholder farmers in Fizi, D.R. Congo. Through training, access to resources, and capacity-building initiatives, we seek to strengthen the agricultural sector, improve livelihoods, and foster resilient farming communities.
Our Approach
Sustainable Agriculture and Empowerment
Training and Capacity Building: We Provide farmers with knowledge and skills in sustainable agricultural practices. We Train farmers on climate-smart techniques and resource management.
Access to Resources: We Facilitate access to high-quality seeds, tools, and organic inputs, and stablish community seed banks and resource-sharing networks.
Market Linkages and Value Addition: We support farmers in accessing local and regional markets, while promoting value addition through processing and packaging of agricultural products.
Community Empowerment: We foster community engagement and participation as well as strengthening farmer cooperatives and associations.
Monitoring and Evaluation: We Continuously assess the impact of our programs and adapt accordingly.
Empowering Smallholder Farmers
Smallholder farmers face socio-economic challenges, such as limited access market access to markets, financial resources, and knowledge gaps. Our approach toward addressing such challenges includes;
Market Linkages: We facilitate connections between farmers and markets, creating opportunities for fair trade, value addition, and increased profitability.
Financial Inclusion: We Provide access to microfinance and savings programs, enabling farmers to invest in their farms, purchase inputs, and expand their businesses.
Entrepreneurship Training: We offer business and marketing training to empower farmers with the skills to develop and manage successful agricultural enterprises.
Farmer Cooperatives: We support the formation and strengthening of farmer cooperatives to foster collaboration, collective bargaining, and knowledge exchange.
Nourishing the Community
Nourishing the community through sustainable agriculture is very important because it impacts on nutritious food, resilience and self-sufficiency, nutrition and reduced malnutrition rates in children and vulnerable groups. Some challenges are present related to food security, malnutrition, and lack of access to nutritious food.
Nutrition Education: We Conduct workshops and awareness campaigns on healthy eating habits, balanced diets, and the importance of diverse food sources.
School Feeding Programs: We Collaborate with local schools to provide nutritious meals to children, promoting learning, health, and attendance.
Community Gardens: We establish community gardens to promote the cultivation of diverse and nutritious crops, ensuring food availability and accessibility.
Food Preservation and Processing: We train community members on food preservation techniques, such as drying, canning, and fermentation, to minimize food waste and extend shelf life.
2. Promoting Sustainable Fishing in Fizi and other Sates on Eastern D.R. Congo
We aim to promoting sustainable fishing practices and protecting aquatic ecosystems in Fizi and other part of the Eastern of D.R. Congo.
Our Approach
Raising Awareness: We Conduct workshops and community outreach programs to educate fishermen and fishing communities about sustainable fishing practices. We also tell them about importance of conservation and the long-term benefits of sustainable fishing.
Training Programs: We provide training sessions to fishermen on responsible fishing techniques, including selective fishing gear, proper handling and storage of catch, and minimizing bycatch. We Empower local communities with knowledge and skills to fish
Collaboration and Partnerships: We facilitate and collaborate among fishermen, fishing communities, and relevant stakeholders such as government agencies, NGOs, and research institutions. We create networks and platforms for sharing best practices, exchanging knowledge, and promoting sustainable fishing initiatives.
We are passionate about empowering African tailors in Fizi through a co-learning approach. By providing skills development, business support, and access to markets, we aim to enhance the economic opportunities and socio-economic well-being of local tailors, fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The Need
Background: Fizi I is a region plagued by poverty, where many children are orphaned and lack access to basic necessities.
Orphanage and Education: Our primary goal is to provide orphans with a safe space to sleep and pay for their school tuition. Education is crucial in empowering these children to overcome poverty.
Skill-building Programs: We also focus on equipping them with basic job skills to increase their employability and long-term self-sufficiency.

School Tuition: By covering the school tuition fees, we remove a significant financial burden for the orphans, enabling them to focus on their studies without worry.

We are committed to combating sexual violence and promoting gender equality in Fizi Itombwe. Our initiatives focus on raising awareness, providing support services, and advocating for the rights and safety of women and girls affected by conflict and violence.
